Lori Lightfoot for Chicago Mayor

Beacon created iconic ads for the Lightfoot campaign, which helped propel Lori Lightfoot’s campaign to a historic victory in Chicago, the largest city in the country ever to be led by an African-American woman and LGBTQ mayor.

Despite starting near the bottom in the polls in a 14 candidates field and being outspent by five of her rivals, Lightfoot finished first in the initial round of voting in the Chicago Mayoral race.

Facing an opponent in the runoff who had won county-wide twice and had the backing of powerful unions, Lightfoot won all 50 wards in the diverse and sprawling city.

The campaign’s ubiquitous slogan “Bring in the Light” which was plastered on signs, shirts and billboards across the city originated from the closing line of Lori's first TV ad.

Our ads helped Lori secure an overwhelming mandate from voters to end the machine politics which have dominated Chicago for decades and usher in a new era of progressive change at city hall.
