In 2018, we took a more creative approach to show the GOP incumbent did not represent the socially moderate and fiscally conservative suburban area of California’s 16th Assembly District. At the same time, we needed to introduce voters to Rebecca Bauer-Kahan and highlight endorsements from organizations trusted by local voters.

The East Bay Express called Rebecca Bauer-Kahan’s victory in California’s 16th Assembly District “stunning” in which she defeated the last Republican legislator in the San Francisco Bay Area

“A victory for Bauer-Kahan had been considered a longshot,” the Express wrote, “because Baker is a moderate Republican and had won the endorsements of the region's daily newspapers.” In 2016, Baker had won reelection by more than 11 points despite heavy spending by Assembly Democrats.
